Caribbean Agave

I could never be a botanist. The amount of names this plant alone has...
The Agave Angustifolia...
The Variegated Caribbean Agave...
The Stripped Caribbean Agave...
The Agave Angustifolia 'Marginata'...

I thought it was a cactus, but the world wide interwebs tell me it is a succulent.
I'm hoping there's a colloquial name that sounds less complicated. :-)
